Description

Wow, I finally did something on DA. AMAZING. Also, this is LONG. It's a very important history, for both character development and later on, so if you have the time, please read it. I hope you won't be disappointed. =)

-----

Name: Karsav

Height: 35 Meters
Wingspan: 70 meters
Weight: 2,500 Tons

Powers:
-Can fire a stream of lava from its mouth, capable of melting buildings with ease and badly burning foes.
-Can create hurricane force winds with a flap of his wings; these winds carry lava and fire that fall off when Karsav flaps his wings with enough force, making them far deadlier than normal wind gusts.
-Meltdown: Whenever Karsav is damaged, such as having a wing blown off of his body, he is capable of transforming into a lava-like state, which allows him to reconnect with the lost limb and reform back to normal. While in this “meltdown” form, he is capable of moving surprisingly fast, and can even rear up like a wave of lava to attack foes.
-Fiery body makes it almost impossible to damage in melee.
-Flight at Mach 2.

Weakness: Water based attack cause the fires within Karsav to recede, creating gaps in his form. This is the key to defeating the beast, as hidden within his chest is a core. When a massive amount of water hits this region, the core will be revealed long enough to be destroyed.

Biography:
Stonespine’s victory laughter was cut off as an ear-splitting shriek came from nearby. Gazing over towards the building where his avian foe had crashed down, he saw what appeared to be lava creeping towards it… Coming from the direction where the bird’s wing had landed. Another shift of his head and he saw the wing had disappeared, fire trailing from where it had been. He stared in horror as the molten lava crept into the destroyed building.

The debris began to shake violently, and in a spectacular display, the rubble erupted forth, sent in all directions as a pair of flaming wings rose from the ground. A shrieking head rose up next, and with a flap of the being’s massive wings, the rest of the body came into view. The breath taking sight was disturbed by what sounded like demonic laughter. Much to everyone’s surprise, the firebird spoke!

“FOOL! You think that I would be destroyed so easily? I am Karsav, the avatar of rebirth! I shall purge this cursed planet with righteous fire, and YOU shall be the first to be reduced to a pile of ash, gargoyle!”

“Good lord, it can talk!? That’s the first wild beast we’ve encountered capable of this!” Giger gasped.

“You’re honestly surprised by this? There’s a human transformed into a gargoyle about to fight a giant bird made out of lava! Nothing makes sense these days!” Chris replied in anger.

“Mother nature has a way of doing anything she wants, it seems… And it’s actually three humans about to fight a firebird.” Therias calmly responds, a slight grin forming on his face as he turns to Emily and Chris.

Chris sighs as Emily nods her head. The aircraft touches down, dropping off the two as Stonespine and Karsav begin their battle. Stonespine takes off into the sky, barely avoiding a stream of lava that splashes onto his former perch. Chris and Emily watch in horror as the building literally begins to melt, collapsing into itself. Stonespine uses his flying skills and speed to get behind the firebird; with a thrust of his wing, his blades dig into the creature’s back. Unfortunately for the gargoyle, this was a grave mistake. The heat sears part of Stonespine’s wing, causing him to pull out his blades and screech in pain. With a flap of its mighty wings, Karsav creates a gust that throws the gargoyle downwards into a plummet, his scorched wing preventing him from avoiding the fall.

“May your burnt corpse be the omen of humanity’s destruction!”

The firebird’s maw began to glow brightly, and a stream of lava poured out... Only to splash off of something seemingly invisible. Upon closer inspection, a purplish barrier had revealed itself, protecting Stonespine from the attack. The lava crashed down, scorching the streets as Karsav turned to look for his foe. As Tursion came into his sights, he let out a shriek as the back of his neck exploded in a spray of lava and fire. Aranthos soared past the avatar, touching down next to Tursion. The bird’s body collapsed to the ground as Stonespine stood up.

“I don’t need your help damnit!” Stonespine yelled as he flew over towards the other two monsters.

But as he touched down, they noticed a massive shadow begin to loom over them. The three beast-men turn their heads and stare with terror in their eyes; quickly acting, Stonespine takes to the air, with Aranthos following suit. Tursion launches herself forward with her telekinesis, just barely avoiding a massive wave of lava crashing down where she just stood.

“What the heck?!” Tursion yells as she floats backwards, putting distance between herself and the flowing lava.

“Burn in righteous fire!”

Tursion watched as the lava began to flow towards her rapidly. She began backing up, her hands starting to emit a deep, oceanic color. The lava came closer and closer, until finally, it converged and retook the form of the firebird! At the last second, however, Tursion whips her arms forward, a blue orb launching from both of her hands. The orbs impact with the firebird’s chest, splashing water as the creature screeches. Aranthos’ eyes catch the sequence of events, and he notices something interesting; the fiery body of the beast ceased where the blast of water impacted, revealing a large, radiating orb.

“...A core?” Aranthos whispered to himself.

As Karsav begins to recover, Tursion attempts to levitate herself away, but the constant use of her psychic powers causes them to fail. She touches down onto the ground and begins to run; despite being a sea based beast, she is rather agile on the ground. Aranthos calls out to his partner, gliding down towards her as Stonespine hovers overhead.

“Guys, water revealed a ‘core’ of some sort in his chest region. Tursion, if you can hit him with enough water and keep up the assault, we can take out that core!” Aranthos explained.

“But I’ve almost exhausted my current power limit Chris. I would need time to channel the remainder to pull off an attack like that.”

“Then one of us needs to distract him. I’ll do my be-”

“Oh no you don’t! I’m the best qualified here for the dangerous stuff, not you! I will be the one to distract this son of a bitch.” Stonespine intervened.

“Alright Mr. Hardcore, I’ll get the core then.” Aranthos groaned.

“He’s reformed! Quick, let’s go!” Tursion cried out.

Karsav’s beak opened wide as a stream of lava erupted out. Aranthos took off to the air as Tursion did a backflip, landing away from the molten fires. Aranthos lands on the side of a nearby skyscraper and begins to crawl up to the very top. Tursion meanwhile closes her eyes and begins to focus her mind. Stonespine screeches loudly and takes off, heading straight toward the firebird. A green glow begins to emit from the gargoyle’s maw...

“BURN YOU WEAKLINGS! BU-”

Suddenly, a crescent of energy is unleashed from Stonespine’s jaws, striking Karsav directly in the face. The firebird flutters and disperses onto the ground, but rises once more from the river of lava. Shrieking in rage, Karsav is once again cut off as Stonespine launches another charged Repulsive Blast, blowing off the firebird’s head yet again.

“Uh-huh. Why don’t you actually try and kill me?” Stonespine hisses.

Meanwhile, a bluish-purple aura begins to form around Tursion’s eyes, whom continues to concentrate as once again, the colors of the ocean begin to converge around her hands. Aranthos continues to eye the confrontation between Stonespine and Karsav, ready to attack as Tursion continues to channel her powers...

“Damnit! Stop giving me head!” Stonespine mockingly says to his foe.

This time, Karsav reforms and immediately follows up with a stream of molten lava. Stonespine manages to avoid the attack, but now the firebird is hot on his heels. Stonespine banks to the left, narrowly avoiding another stream of lava. The gargoyle turns sharply, trying to force his foe to follow. Unfortunately for him, Karsav spots Tursion, who is seemingly locked in a vulnerable state of meditation. With a wicked grin, the firebird changes direction and heads towards the dolphin beast. Stonespine curses at his foe, but it does not catch Karsav’s attention.

“Emily! He’s coming! Get ready!” Aranthos screams and prepares himself.

Karsav spreads his massive wings and hovers in front of Tursion, who is still locked in trance. The firebird cackles madly as his mouth begins to glow with fiery energies. Suddenly, Tursion’s eyes shoot open and a brilliant display of purple and blue energy dances around her eyes and hands. She lowers her arms, then raises them up in a swift motion. Karsav is taken by surprise as a massive torrent of water erupts from underneath of him, engulfing his form completely. Through the brilliant display, the beast’s core is revealed! Aranthos sees this, spreads his wings and glides down, launching a barrage of energy needles at the core. As he closes in, the spider ceases the ranged attack and flips his body, propelling himself into a powerful kick...

SMASH!

The core cracks as Aranthos’ clawed foot crashes into it, and it shatters in a brilliant flash of light. The spider throws himself backwards, touching down next to Tursion. The torrent of water ceases, and the glowing energies around Tursion disappear. The dolphin beast wobbles and begins to fall from exhaustion, only for Aranthos to catch her. Stonespine slowly descends and lands a few meters away.

“We did it! Good job guys.” Aranthos says; smiling in the best way a spider can.

“Damn straight!” Stonespine says. He then looks down at the exhausted Tursion. “So... What else can you do with that mind sweetcheeks?”

Tursion’s eyes slowly open and emit a very weak purple aura around them... Suddenly, a car flies up from the ground, sailing straight into the gargoyle’s face. Stonespine howls in pain, rubbing his nose as the car crashes to the ground.

“That.” Tursion says, as her eyes close and she blacks out in Aranthos’ arms.

Trivia:
-Karsav was inspired by Igor Stravinsky’s “The Firebird Suite,” particularly the Fantasia 2000 representation of it.
-Karsav’s name comes from Tamara Karsavina, who played the main role in the ballet for Mikhail Fokine’s presentation of “The Firebird.”
-Reports of increased activity from CyClone began to pour in around the time Karsav first appeared. It is unknown if this has anything to do with the firebird’s appearance or not.
